The most common positive feedback — as opposed to the you treat my restaurant unfairly b.s. — I receive about Taste Everything Once is that it is a better food guide than what 7 and The Inlander provide. That’s nice, but these people miss a crucial point. Without the “mainstream media,” there likely wouldn’t be a Taste Everything Once. Think about it. If a restaurant opens where do we get all the information about it from? Once in a while from the owners or guests, sure, but more often than not it is from 7 or The Inlander.

This, not surprisingly, is why the recent cuts over at The Spokesman-Review is a very bad thing for local blogs in Spokane. Not just food related, obviously, but sources for any opinionated… opinion… is based on that dreaded “MSM.”

It’s kind of sad I feel the need to write something as basic as this, but there are plenty of dipshits who don’t get it. Go to the S-R blogs for examples. I’m not doing the commenters the favor of linking to them. People who take joy in others losing their jobs? Little fucks.

But we’ll see how well their precious blogosphere will cater to their news-needs. Of course, they don’t have news-needs as such. They need people to cater to their opinions, to say what they want to hear.

And that will still be provided for them.

The DUI Mario Kart Experiment

It’s the question that has gone unanswered since Jesus first debated it with Abraham: how much does drinking actually impair your driving skills? Now is the time to answer it, through the most accurate of measurements: Wii Mario Kart!

We measured three players while sober, with around .04% blood alcohol content (BAC,) and around .08% BAC. This all occurred on the “Mall” level. The results are interesting…

The results are interesting! Notice that we completed the courses quicker across the board with alcohol in the blood, and all three of us had the same times with .04 and .08 BAC.

So what is the conclusion? Drinking and driving is obviously faster, and should be encouraged! (But only in video gaming, kids.)

Some other numbers, outside of the actual experiment:

Closest race: Becky VS Remi, where the best man (that would be me) won by one second. (3:31)

Best racer: Mike, averaging 3:23.

Worst racer: Geneva, averaging 3:52. (Probably not below 0.04 BAC at any point, however.)

Booze Walk 2: The Stefaning

Become a podcast host!

How many times have you not told yourself, “Gee, I wish I was on a podcast like Remi and Stefan Do Spokane. Why can’t I replace that pesky Stefan?!” Well, now you can! Kind of. Stefan, being a busy man of the people, needs some time off, and has decided to take about one podcast or so off a month. Instead of leaving that week open and dull, the Board of Directors have decided to fill those podcasts with a rotating list of guest hosts or replacement hosts (we haven’t decided which term to use yet — I say replacement, Stefan says guest.)

So how can you partake? Simple:

If you have a camera, film a short segment explaining why you would be right for the podcast. This could (just as an example) involve sucking up to us.
If you don’t have a camera, write a glowing essay about why you would be right for the podcast. This could (just as an example) involve sucking up to us.
Send said contribution back to me.
Bribes are encouraged.

The Board of Directors will go through the contributions, and decide who fits and who doesn’t, with the results being announced on a podcast in the near future. This is your chance to shine!

1. Andrew: The only one to complete the challenge and undisputed champion.

2. Paul: The dark horse surprise , and runner-up in the beard growing contest.

3. Mark: So Stefan got this one wrong. But just barely.

4. Becky and Geneva: Went out over the same piece of cake simuntaniously.

6. Remi: Fell victim to Ryan’s stealthy assassin ways.

7. Bart: Lasted longer than any of us had expected.
